OPPO is gearing up to unveil the Reno14 Series in Kenya on July 24th, and if early details are anything to go by, this isn’t just another mid-year phone refresh. The Reno14 is shaping up to be a compelling blend of flagship aesthetics, innovative materials science, and next-gen durability—a rare trifecta in today’s increasingly homogenized smartphone space.
At first glance, the Reno14 looks like it belongs on a fashion runway rather than in your pocket—and that’s exactly the point. OPPO has gone all-in on its “Iridescent Mermaid Design”, a playful nod to aquatic beauty that leans into youth culture and a growing appetite for phones that don’t just work, but wow.
But the shimmer isn’t just for show. The back cover is crafted using a 12-layer ultra-high precision patterned coating, a leap from the six-layer process seen in earlier Reno iterations. Through five rounds of micron-level optimization, OPPO has managed to etch light and shadow lines as thin as 20 microns—the slimmest in the industry. The result? A device that dances with light in mesmerizing ways.
Tough Love: Built Like a Sea Sponge
OPPO isn’t stopping at looks. Underneath all that dazzle is a surprisingly robust architecture. The Reno14 Series introduces a novel “Sponge Armor Body”, a shock-absorbing internal structure inspired by—you guessed it—the humble sea sponge. This biological blueprint helps absorb and distribute impact energy from accidental drops, protecting the phone’s internals.
That’s paired with an aviation-grade alloy frame, the same kind of high-strength material used in aircraft design. According to OPPO, this combo not only keeps the device featherlight and thin (just 7.74mm) but also helps manage heat during intensive tasks like gaming or 4K video recording.
IP69? That’s Practically a Submarine
Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising spec: the Reno14 Series comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings—protection not often seen together in a mainstream smartphone.

The Reno14 F 5G’s display specs check all the right boxes. A 6.57-inch AMOLED panel, 93.04% screen-to-body ratio, and 1400 nits peak brightness mean content looks crisp and vibrant—even under direct sunlight. Add in a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and glove touch support, and this is clearly a device built for all-day interaction across seasons and scenarios.
Colours, Availability & First Impressions
Set to arrive in Luminous Green and Opal Blue, the Reno14 F 5G leans heavily into tactile and visual appeal, from Velvet Glass finishes to flowing gradient effects.
